New Features in E-Z Audit Version 10:

  • Get a listing of what, if any, anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall products your PCs have installed and if they are up to date.1
     

  • Shows the date and time of the last Windows Update2

  • Great new tech support tool - "Troubleshooting Data"
     

    • Lists startup items in the registry and startup folders

    • Gets the last 25 Critical, Error or Warning messages in the two weeks prior to the audit from the System and Applications (Programs) Event Logs

    • Windows Services data is now part of this data, which can be selected or de-selected as you prefer
       

  • You can ask the user to answer up to 4 questions during the audit, as before, but now you can choose whether to automatically keep those answers for subsequent audits (they never get asked again), or if you always want fresh answers (like "Did you contact tech support this week?"), you can have them always asked at each audit.

Enhancements in earlier versions of E-Z Audit

In addition to the the items below, each new version brings many usability enhancements as well as a constant dedication to making things faster, easier, better in every way we can.

Windows Vista compatibility.       
Exclude Microsoft Hot Fix and Security Updates from the Installed Software List – by popular request.      
E-Z Audit On-Demand add on no longer requires a dedicated configuration script.  You can use the default config.ezc or pass it a command to use any logon script you want to use.      
Total time to complete audits in PC summary reports – now you can verify user comments on audit time to complete.

Graphical Executive Summary Page  (view example)

One page summary in new graphical format showing your hardware assets by Operating Systems, RAM, processor speed, PC Manufacturer and Installed Software.
     
New Security Feature:

Audits show list of logins that have Administrator level at the PC.  The list appears on the Hardware Summary > Security report on the Admin Console.
     
Distinguish between CD drive and CD/DVD combo or DVD drive:

New results allow you to determine if drive is DVD capable (Windows 2000 or newer)
     
Exclude %WINDIR% folders in a Full audit:

Now you can exclude scanning the Windows system directory tree.  Here by popular demand.
     
Software Company name information now a field in all program file reports      
Intranet module now saves audit locally to user's My Documents root. No more saving to C:\EZAudit and problems with locked down PCs      
If you have users answer questions on your audits, now they are stored user-specific and no longer to the C:\ root:      
New "Home Page" in the Admin Console with quick resource links, including an Online Update button that shows date and time you last checked for an update.      
Ability to scan for up to two additional extensions (e.g. ".pst") in Full audit      
Windows Services names and status obtained (not applicable to 9x machines)      
User prompts when asking users to answer question during an audit      
Enter or modify admin notes and PC info on multiple audits before you have to refresh the display and cached data      
Number and date formats are "localized" at the Admin Console for viewing and exports – meaning if you have PCs in Finland, Panama, Quebec and the U.S., and you are in Quebec, number and date formats conform to French Canadian formats for all audits!      
Ability to exclude PCs from audits      
Shows whether PC is sharing out any folders      
New launcher for scanner to prevent batch-file based logon scripts on Windows networks from waiting for scan to complete      
MAC address shown in PC List of audits and delete functions for those who prefer to search or identify audits by MAC address      
Hardware Summary report for PC's by Operating System sorted by OS and Service Pack      
May new user defined fields you can use:
  • 4 fields you can use at the Admin Console for your Admin Notes

  • 4 fields you can either enter data to manually at a PC when auditing hands-on, or that you can prompt the user to enter data to when doing automated auditing.  And, you can have your own text appear as highlighted prompts at the user's PC!

  • 4 "Generic" data fields that you can append to all audits in a folder
    The next two you had before, but now they are truly separated, not concatenated.

  • 2 fields you can pre-enter for automated audits, for example "Seattle branch" and "Pre-upgrade audit"   

  • 2 fields you can make PC-specific by placing a text file at the PC, like "Internal Asset # 1234", "Office # A24"

     
Ability to create and use multiple configuration files so you can run different audits for different groups, dates, etc.      
RAM results show number of 'slots' available and used and type (e.g. DIMM, RIMM, etc.)      
Reports if MP3 files found on user's PC, how many, and disk spaced used by them      


1-This feature works only on Windows XP SP2, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista, and is dependent on the security products conforming to the Windows Security Center requirements.

2- Applicable if you use Windows Update to deploy hotfixes, updates and service packs.
