Intranet Module Information

See how easy it is for your users to audit their PC from remote locations.  Click for how to allow ActiveX controls to run if you are unfamiliar with doing so.

Privacy Assurance Notice

No information whatsoever that E-Z Audit collects is sent back to ATConsulting or anywhere else.  The program runs on your PC and the data stays on your PC.  Our scanner module is signed with a VeriSign authentication certificate issued to ATConsulting, LLC

Note on Vista: This demo uses our "Intranet Module".  As the name implies, it is meant for use on an intranet.  Vista treats ActiveX controls from the internet zone as less trustworthy and so some information many not be returned.  This is not a flaw in E-Z Audit.  If run from an intranet, this module works fully.  And of course, the usual auditing is done not via this module but via the module you run from your server which is not affected in any way as it is not an ActiveX component and does not run via Internet Explorer.  For more information on deploying ActiveX via your intranet for Vista users, read about the ActiveX Installer Service in Vista.

Use of this scan is subject to our End User License Agreement.

Audit PCs issued to road warriors, home based staff, or remote branches not on your network with the E-Z Audit Intranet Scanner Module! 1

This is the ideal method of auditing for:

  • Remote branches that don't directly log into your LAN or WAN

  • Users who use dial-up or VPN connections remotely

  • Ad-Hoc audits for PCs that don't run your logon script

How do I set it up?

You create a configuration for the Intranet module scan as you do for your regular LAN/WAN-based scans, from the E-Z Audit Admin Console - including the ability to prompt your users to answer questions.

E-Z Audit creates a default HTML page that will launch the scanner when your users access it.

When you complete the configuration, E-Z Audit will tell you where the two files are that you need to put on your Web server.

When it completes it will either tell them it has completed and let them know they can close IE, or if you choose, the browser will automatically go to another web page where you can provide more instructions.

How do I get the audits sent to me?

When you create the configuration you can have audits save to a folder on your LAN or WAN if your intranet users are inside your network.  Alternatively you can have the user taken automatically to another web page of your own design where you can provide them instructions on what to do.  For example:

  • You can have them email the results.

Audit results are saved to the User's "My Documents"  folder root and will be the only file there with an .EZ9 extension, like MYPCNAME.EZ9

  • You can have them upload the file.

Why we don't you provide an upload script or other upload mechanism

There are numerous scripts for uploading files available on the Web. It must be up to you to decide what's best and implement it.  We assume a certain level of proficiency with web based technologies from anyone wishing to use our Intranet module.

To have the Intranet module be configurable to send your user's data anywhere other than their PC or your server is a security risk.  Making it a process that requires user interaction reduces if not eliminates that risk.

The intranet module always saves its results
to the User's "My Documents"  folder root and will be the only file there with an .EZ9 folder so scripting for this is predictable for you.

Read the User's Guide for configuring and deploying the Intranet module
