There are times when you need to audit standalone
machines manually. Other times you may have some PCs in a location
where an automated audit is not possible for some reason, for example you
can't alter logon script or you just need to come in grab the audits and go.
You can run ezscan.exe manually from a USB flash drive by just clicking on
it. It is also possible to configure it so that you can run it
repeatedly without having to set the parameters of the audit manually each
time.
Or you may want to send a branch a USB flash drive to
have the local admin there run them for you.
Here's how you can configure the USB device for use with
E-Z Audit.
Create a configuration file for use in the USB.
Use the Tools > Configure automated audits menu to access
the configuration tool and select the USB audit option:

- Create a folder on your USB flash
drive called Audits. This is required.
- Copy the configuration file your created to the root of
the USB flash drive.
Also copy ezscan.exe and autorun.inf from C:\Program
Files\EZAudit\Scanner folder to the root of the USB drive.
When inserted into the PC's USB port it should launch the Windows AutoPlay dialog:

If not, the user can right-click the drive letter and select the option to run the audit:

Or they can click Start > Run and type X:\ezscan.exe /auto (replacing "X" with the actual drive letter for the USB device.)
The audit will be saved to the USB drive's
"Audits" folder.
