You can compare one PC against another to see
if there are variances of interest to you between them.
This tool is launched from the Tools menu or
the Tools tab in the admin console.
Your tech support staff could use this to
compare a user's PC against a baseline PC, or another PC that
should be identical to see what may differ between them.
IMPORTANT: To get the maximum benefit
from this tool, you should run Full audits and add DLL files to
the file extensions to be audited.
You can compare PCs using this tool in two
ways:
-
Against other PCs from the same audit
group (folder) - for example Mary's PC compared against
Bill's PC
-
Against other PCs from another audit
group (folder) - for example an accounting department PC
from Branch A against an accounting PC from Branch B
TIP: The ability to compare across
two folders means you could save audits for "baseline" PCs
into a folder that you can them use to compare actual user
PCs against. If Bill in accounting has a problem, and
Bill's PC should mirror the baseline accounting PC, then you
can compare his PC against the baseline 'accounting PC' in
the baseline folder.
You will see:
-
Unique files on the PC being compared to another PC
-
Files on both where there are differences
in the versions
-
Installed software titles missing from
the PC being compared to another PC, or present only on that
PC, including Microsoft Hot-Fixes and updates.
