Q: Not all of my PCs are producing audits when I request an On-Demand audit. Why?If the machine is in Sleep or Hibernate mode then the audit can't start. When it comes out of that mode, the audit will run.As with scheduled audits, check for problems with permissions for the folders on your server. Users must be able to read, write, create, delete, modify and execute in the \\server_name\ezaudit\audits folders.
In the folder where ondemand.exe is location, look for oderrlog.txt. This should help you find what needs changing.
Q: How do I have my server become available automatically for On-Demand auditing?Create a Windows Task in the Windows Task Scheduler to launch ondemand.exe at system startup. Un-check the throttle that Windows puts in to stop the task if it runs over 'x' hours.More details in the User's Guide under the sections for auditing servers, as well as the On-Demand section.
Q: Is E-Z Audit Media still an add-on to E-Z Audit?Starting in Version 12 of E-Z Audit you can now audit up to eight non-program file types, like movies, audio, Office documents, etc. In that sense, it replaces the need for E-Z Audit Media. However, it is still offered as a separate program for those who want to keep the two functions and audits separate to each other, or if they want to do Media audits alone for a specific project or location. More about E-Z Audit Media as a standalone product is at www.ezauditmedia.com
Q: Some users occasionally get a InPage Error c000020c or 0xc0000006. Why?This is a network connectivity issue. When running an application from the network there is a poor connection (e.g. a weak wireless connection or a bottlenecked switch our router), this error can occur.Basically ondemand.exe is loaded into RAM at the user's PC from the server. Windows needs to keep a reference to the application even though it's now running at the PC. Lose that connection and errors will occur.
There is a Microsoft Knowledge Base article on the subject. While the article is about Windows XP, the information still applies to newer versions of Windows as well.
